Baggage on a FlixBus

Each FlixBus has plenty of space for your baggage. To make your trip as pleasant and safe as possible, we ask you to read the following points carefully.

Your FlixBus ticket includes the free transportation of:

  • One item of hand baggage 16 x 12 x 7 in for max. all size of all sides of 35 in, max. 25 lbs.
  • One check-in bag 31 x 20 x 12 in for max. all size of all sides 63 in, max. 50 lbs.

For safety reasons, it is important that your carry-on baggage can be stowed in the overhead compartments above your seat, so that exit routes are clear. Please ensure that all your baggage is labelled with your name and address. The friendly drivers are more than happy to help you load your baggage into the baggage compartments.

Additional Baggage

You are allowed additional baggage if it does not exceed the dimensions of your complimentary check-in baggage or weigh more than 50 lbs. An additional baggage item costs $9.99 and must be registered during your booking process. FlixBus cannot guarantee the ability to transport more than one check-in baggage item, per person.

Some of the buses allow you to travel with your standard-size bicycle (without superstructures; max. weight of 45 lbs. These can be added to your trip during the booking process for an extra fee of $10.99 per item. The transport of bikes is on bicycle carriers. In special cases, it is only possible to bring your bike if it is in a suitable bag in the baggage compartment (e.g. folding bike). In this case, you must call Customer Service* in advance to register the bicycle. E-bikes, pedelecs, tandems and tricycles cannot be transported on a bike rack.

Strollers/Wheelchairs/Walking Aids

FlixBus transports wheelchairs, walking aids and strollers for free. Strollers must be registered with our Customer Service no more than 36 hours before departure. We also encourage you to register mobility aids to ease the loading process.

Medical Oxygen Cylinders - Up to a total of four (4) cylinders per passenger are permitted as follows: Two (2) cylinders in the passenger compartment and two (2) cylinders in the cargo compartment as checked baggage (must have valve protection cap in place and be properly packaged and protected against accidental discharge.) Cylinders are to be no larger than 4.5 inches in diameter and 26 inches in length. Maximum total oxygen load on a bus may not exceed 99 lbs.

Musical Instruments

Musical instruments that do not exceed the hand baggage weight and dimensions of 16 x 12 x 7 in, max. 25 lbs, can be taken on board free of charge in your passenger compartment in place of a regular hand baggage item. (Please note: if you choose to bring an instrument, you are not allowed to take another carry-on baggage item into the bus).

Musical instruments that are larger than the hand baggage measurements are considered check-in baggage and must be transported in the trunk of the bus in the appropriate transportation case. We recommend a hard case to avoid any damage. If you bring your instrument as an additional baggage item, you must register it accordingly during your booking. As any other additional baggage, it costs $10.

Musical instruments and their cases that are larger than our allowed check-in baggage dimensions are excluded from transportation (e.g. double basses).
