5 Festivals That Need To Be On Your Bucket List!

A big inflatable astronaut overlooking people at Coachella

Coachella is one the most epic music and art festivals in the world. Over the past couple of years, it has been breaking records in attendance and revenue and is living up to its reputation as one of the most popular festivals in the US. With different genres such as hip-hop, rock, indie, and electronic as well as art exhibitions and sculptures, there is really something for everyone. Artists such as Rage Against the Machine, Prince, Coldplay, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul McCartney and Beyoncé have performed at the festival.

The music lineup isn’t the only thing that people are going to Coachella for but also the food lineup! Every year the food offerings get crazier and yummier and often revolve around a theme! 2018’s themes were New York and vegan and features food like ice cream tacos, smoothie bowls, fried chicken stuffed waffle cones and mac 'n' cheese pizza.

Coachella is also focused on being super environmental and reducing the festival’s carbon footprint with initiatives such as solar powered DJ booths and the 10-for-1 recycle program, where if you collect ten empty water bottles you get one for free, stay hydrated folks!

Burning Man

The burning man ceremony

While not officially a music festival, Burning Man definitely deserves to be on the top of your festival bucket list! According to the organizers, the festival is an experiment of radical self-expression and community, which means that everything in the event is made by the festival attendees. The event is held in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, and is founded upon what is called as the Ten Principles: radical inclusion, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, gifting, decommodification, participation, immediacy, and leave no trace. At Burning Man, you can enjoy a variety of artworks including sculptures, buildings, performances etc. It’s simply about sharing one’s talents for the entertainment of others.

During the event can also enjoy electronic music but Burning Man themselves do not release any lineups. So, have a look at different DJ’s social media to see if they have announced that they will be playing. The easiest way to get to Burning Man is to catch a FlixBus to Reno, the closest city, and then catch the festival's shuttle to the campgrounds.
