Flix and DKMS Join Forces to Inspire Lifesaving Stem Cell Donor Registrations
+++ New partnership campaign titled “Your Journey Could Save a Life” uses travel moments to help blood cancer and blood disorder patients
DALLAS (August 21, 2025) — Flix, a global travel tech leader and parent company of intercity bus service FlixBus and Greyhound, has launched a long-term partnership with DKMS, an international non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of patients with blood cancer and blood disorders, to raise awareness and drive stem cell donor registration across several countries, including the United States.
Through the collaboration titled “Your Journey Could Save a Life”, DKMS and Flix aim to make registration as a potential donor as accessible and seamless as possible. Travelers using onboard Wi-Fi on FlixBus trips across the United States will be guided to a dedicated landing page where they can begin the registration process with just a few clicks. FlixBus travelers across the planet – in Poland, India, Chile, the U.K., and on FlixBus and FlixTrain in Germany – will also be part of this global campaign.
Every 27 seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with blood cancer or a severe blood disorder, and in the United States alone, a new diagnosis occurs every three minutes. While 30% of patients may find a matching stem cell donor within their family, the remaining 70% rely on unrelated donors, many of whom never find a match due to underrepresentation in donor registries. DKMS is working globally to diversify the donor pool and improve the chances of finding a match for all patients, especially those with rare genetic profiles.
Leading by Example
Earlier this month, at Flix offices in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles, Flix North America employees kicked off the “Your Journey Could Save a Life” campaign. Team members interested in checking their eligibility were able to see if they could become potential donors.

Los Angeles-based employees also took part in kicking off Flix’s global “Your Journey Could Save a Life” campaign.
“Every journey has the potential to change lives for those who travel, and for those waiting for a second chance at life,” said Elke Neujahr, Global CEO of DKMS. ”By partnering with Flix, we're turning bus ride into meaningful impact.”
“Through this partnership with Flix, we are reaching people in everyday moments and showing them how easy it is to take the first step toward saving a life,” explains Country Manager for DKMS US, Hannah De Simone. “It’s a simple act that can make a real difference, not only for patients here in the US, but around the world."
“Flix is a mission-driven company: we believe travel should not only connect people to places, but open doors to possibility,” said Karina Frayter, head of corporate affairs at Flix North America. “Through our partnership with DKMS, we can transform an everyday journey into a life-changing opportunity. Together, we’re making it simple for travelers to create a positive, lasting impact — all from the comfort of their seat.”
Who can register?
Any adult between the ages of 18-55 in general good health, with a BMI under 40, and not already registered, can sign up as a potential donor. Anyone interested in checking their eligibility can get more information and register at DKMS.org/flixbuspassengers-us.
