Opened in 1929, Los Angeles International Airport is the largest airport in California and the second busiest airport in the United States with millions of passengers passing through each year. LAX is a major international gateway to the United States, with over 1,300 flights departing to 44 countries each week. Due to the airport being so large, some regard LAX as a difficult airport to get around. Luckily, there are free airport shuttle busses that run between all terminals and parking lots.
The airport is only 15 miles away from the city of Los Angeles between Marina del Rey and Manhattan Beach, so if you have a long layover you can even think about chilling out on the beach! Or you check out the airport’s impressive number of shops, restaurants and bars within the nine terminals.
